It has become common knowledge that the
Italian region of Basilicata
is a property rich in history, culture, art, and nature. Its least known facet
is the existence of a large number of small towns, in most cases sheltered on
cliffs and hills, where time seems to have come to a standstill. Days pass slowly in these historic centers,
which are often distinguished by highly prized architecture: baronial palaces
and medieval churches, along with small and large homes all incorporated together
in perfect harmony. Here progress, which
has been late in arriving, has contributed to maintaining this delicate and authentically
genuine equilibrium, made up of good people, beautiful things, and excellent
food.
Within this extraordinary context, Borgus
was born, an innovative project dedicated to the enhancement, safeguarding and renovation
of the small inhabited towns of Basilicata.
